Yohann Aucante holds a research and lecturing chair at Ecole des hautes études en sciences Sociales (Paris), dedicated to the Nordic welfare states. His work deals with the history of welfare institutions, their territorial and national construction in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, from the perspective of universalism, subsidiarity and social assistance. He has recently published the first handbook to appear in French on Nordic democracy since 1964 (Armand Colin, 2013), as well as various works on social democracy, political parties and welfare. He is co-editor of the main journal of Nordic studies in France (Nordiques), deputy director of the Programme on disabilities and society at EHESS, and editor of a Political science collection for DeBoeck in French (“Ouvertures politiques”, handbook series on Political sociology, European Union, Gender studies, Disability studies, Antidiscrimination politics, etc.).
